Interpretive Materials & Maps

Meaningful and engaging interpretive materials can be foundational to an organization’s mission. Not only are they crucial to effective community engagement and outreach, they also can also facilitate all kinds of important connections to the wider world, while fostering curiosity and a sense of stewardship and care.

We are here to help your organization make these connections really matter.  Each kind of project is unique, and needs to be custom tailored to each organization to take into account your team’s mission, resources, and goals.

  • Language translation can play an important role in expanding access and learning. We help in this process by providing formats in different languages as needed.  

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Interpretive materials that use multi-sensory and multi-modal pedagogies, critical inquiry, place-based thinking, and engaging illustration

  • Trail maps designed to make exploring sites easier and fun

  • We’ll help you bring your ideas to fruition through guided content planning meetings and facilitate community and partner input in the process

  • We’ll do any site visits, research, and copywriting for the project, including navigational mapping work

  • We’ll send in-process work for written feedback and notes from each meeting

  • We’ll keep you involved in every step of the process, working together to refine the materials to suit your needs

Docent & Volunteer Educator Support

Volunteer educators are often on the frontlines of community engagement and learning at organizations. As guides and teachers, they are the bridge between the public’s understanding of an organization and its mission, values, and goals. 

We offer support and training for organizations to help their volunteers feel empowered and effective in how they connect with audiences and advance the organization's outreach goals.

Classroom Partnerships & Homeschool Workshops

Place-based learning is a pedagogical approach that focuses on connections to local heritage, cultures, landscapes, opportunities and experiences. It emphasizes experiential learning and can help students develop a stronger relationship with the environment and their community. 

Project-based learning is a student centered learning method that encourages students to problem solve through real world challenges. It can help students learn about a topic in greater depth and supports critical thinking and collaboration skills.

Our school and classroom partnerships focus on creative ways to bring these approaches together to enhance student learning in meaningful ways.

Each kind of classroom partnership is custom tailored to support the educator’s objectives and larger goals. It can range from a single workshop to a year-long partnership collaboration. Whatever your goals,  let us help make them a reality.
