Reflecting on the Fall 2023 Institutes for Changemakers
November wrapped up an especially busy season for the Institutes for Changemakers, a multi-week online intensive for professionals that dives deeply into transformation and change, empowering participants towards action and equipping them with a road map to achieve their individual and, when applicable, institutional goals.
We completed not one but TWO of our Institutes, including:
The Fall Institute that was created for individual professionals
And another version, for a mid-sized museum, that was focused specifically on change work across departments within that institution.
Every time we run the Institute for Changemakers we learn something new, and this fall was no exception. In both Institutions, there extensive discussion about the challenges of burnout, the importance of working with intention, and setting up rules for yourself to focus on what really matters. Fall and winter are especially stressful times of year, and we spent time working on a blueprint to help be strategic with our goals.
It’s always great to see the communities that form through the experiences. In the Fall Institute for individuals, participants were especially interested in how change looked at different stages in their respective careers. Meanwhile, at the other Institute for Changemakers, the intensive became a meaningful way for staff learn about each others’ roles in their museum, develop partnerships, break down silos, and develop empathy for their colleagues.
The Institute for Change is a great way to create a road map for internal strategic planning, or to provide tools and strategies to empower staff to meet their goals.
