“From Vision to Action: Summer Changemaker Institute” is a 4-part online workshop for museum and nonprofit professionals where you will learn about human-centered strategies that can effectively drive forward meaningful change, come up with a vision statement, and leave the Institute with a strategic plan of action for implementation. The workshop is held on Wednesdays between July 17 and August 7.

Led by consultant and author Mike Murawski, “From Vision to Action: Summer Changemaker Institute” is a four-part online intensive workshop that is designed to help you:

  • Learn about the latest research on relational thinking, radical empathy, and collective action

  • Explore practical tools to put these ideas into action in your work

  • Identify key changes you can make in your own organization and work practice, and address common barriers to change

  • Grow your support network to catalyze collective action

  • Develop a vision statement and create a detailed plan for implementation

The sessions are two hours each, and include individual reflections, small group breakout rooms, large group discussions, and membership to an online community space for conversations, reflection work, and asynchronous support.

Who the course is for?

This four-part workshop is for museum and nonprofit professionals who are in need of tools and support for developing and enacting positive change at their institution or through their work.

This workshop is also great for anyone working independently in consulting work.

Early career professionals, those in leadership positions, as well as volunteers are all welcome.

  • The four part workshop will run live through Zoom, and any asynchronous materials and access to the online community will be shared through email. After you’ve registered for the course, you’ll receive an email within a week of the first session’s start date with details and a zoom link.

  • The workshop runs weekly on the following dates.

    Session 1: Wednesday, 7/17, 1 pm-3 pm Eastern (10 am-12 pm Pacific)

    Session 2: Wednesday, 7/24, 1 pm-3 pm Eastern (10 am-12 pm Pacific)

    Session 3: Wednesday, 7/31, 1 pm-3 pm Eastern (10 am-12 pm Pacific)

    Session 4: Wednesday, 8/7, 1 pm-3 pm Eastern (10 am-12 pm Pacific)

About the Instructor

Mike Murawski has a PhD in Education and Arts Learning from American University, and over 15 years of experience working in museum and nature education and leadership positions. He is the author of Museums as Agents of Change: A Guide to Becoming a Change Maker (2021). He is also the founding author and editor of ArtMuseumTeaching.com, co-producer of the Museums Are Not Neutral global advocacy campaign, and the co-director of Art Nature Place.

A selection of recent workshops and courses include: Fall and Summer Institutes for Changemakers, Community Centered Engagement Spring Intensive, The Value Blueprint Workshop, Museum Docent Training Workshops, “Museums are Not Neutral” Bootcamp (co-run with La Tanya Autry), and “Nature and Self Care” Workshops (co-run with Art Nature Place co-director Bryna Campbell).
