Field Guide: Confluence Story Circles
We are excited to share the launch of a family centered Field Guide for the Confluence Story Circles Site as part of an ongoing partnership on educational material for Confluence art landscape sites along the Columbia River system.
Confluence is a nonprofit with the mission of connecting folks to the history, living cultures, and ecology of the Columbia River system through Indigenous voices. The nonprofit works through six art landscapes, educational programs, and public gatherings in collaboration with northwest tribes, communities, and the celebrated artist Maya Lin.
This Field Guides feature the Story Circles, by Maya Linn, at the confluence of the Snake snd Columbia Rivers, at Sacajawea State Park in Pasco, WA.
The pages include the following features:
Map that includes the route to and around the Story Circles art site at Sacajawea State Park.
“Gathering Place” page designed to encourage slowing down, observing, and noticing upon entering the art site space
A page on the “Rivers of Change” focusing on past, present, and future efforts to protect and restore the space.
A page that engages more closely with each of the story circles and their content.
A credits and gratitude page.
